If you read the 1st Book of Samuel 31:11-12, the
bodies of Saul and Jonathan were “burned,” then buried under a tamarisk tree.
There was no comment (positive or negative) concerning it. Therefore it seems to me there is no divine opposition to cremation. In terms of the process, all
cremation does is accelerate the “returning to dust” that all corpses do over a
period of time. So I see cremation as a viable option. Usually, it’s the living who feel better when they think their loved one is still intact –
just somewhere they can’t be seen.
